Well, after I had gotten dressed apparently I was so beautiful that my whole family had to take pictures, and they were taking pictures when my date arived. Then he was me as I came around the corner. His eyes got all big and he was like, "Woaw." And it was a good woaw. I put on him the pink corsage that I had made and he realised that he had forgotten the corsage that he had gotten me. Apparently he was just to excited to see me.
We then went to Applebees and met up with two other couples. All of them are incredibly bright and trust me I was just alittle nervous. But, as time went by I was able to relax a have fun because they all felt uncomfortable too. My advice to those reading this who have never gone on a date (like myself) is to crack a couple of jokes and if they don't go over well just say, "Well I thought that we could use alittle bit of humor to cut the nervous tension in the room." Then everyone will relax.
After the dance we went to the dance to get pictures. Me and my date posed like Charles Angles, and because we were so ingenious everyone wanted help with their pictures too. I'm so excited to get them back and see if my hair was in place, and see if I look like a dork.
Once we had taken pictures we went out and started dancing and let me inform you, I am not, in any sense of the word, a dancer. If you have seen Hitch, I would be the one that was doing something that resembled the Q-Tip. At one point I think that my date thought that I could do swing, and so he picked me up in the air to do a move, and as he swung me to one side I apparently put to much momentum into the move and he dropped me then fell ontop of me. I was laughing so hard that it looked like I was crying. He was so sorry and I just couldn't stop laughing.
Even though I am not a good dancer he still thought that I was beautiful. As we were dancing he would tell me that I was beautiful and that he was the most comfortable he had ever been with a girl. Ahh, how sweet, and I actually believed him. Personally, I never thought that I would ever get asked to a dance. It's not that I am not cute, but I'm not exactly popular either. I was always called, "Scary Mary" growing up because I was taller than everyone, and I still am. So I think that I can buy into the fact that this guy said that I was beautiful.
To the suprise of no one Prom King was given to the nerdiest guy in school. He is so kind and funny that when he was nominated for the position he was campaigning for people not to vote for him. So when he one and everyone began to chant, "Speach!" the only thing he said was, "I would like to quote the 70's - Why?"
So my advice to you (those going on a date and are nervous)
-just relax- He is going to think that you are beautiful no matter what because he asked you and likes you anyway.
-don't do dance moves that you have never tried that have a gravity factor- My butt agrees.
and
-have fun- because that's what prom was meant for.
Good luck to all of you that are dating
Mary
