Big Bopper

One person is "IT" - the "Big Bopper." Everyone else takes a seat in a circle. The first person to Big Bopper's left is "Number One." The person to Number One's left is "Number Two," and so on.

Big Bopper starts by selecting a four count hand clap - we like hands on knees twice, clap twice (clap your hands on your knees or thighs, repeat, clap your hands, repeat). To begin, keep the pace slow (60 beats per minute is plenty fast).

Big Bopper then begins the Opening Chant, which everyone does in unison (while clapping the selected clap):

Then Big Bopper then uses the first two beats to call his name (Big Bopper) and the last two to call the name of someone else in the circle (i.e. Number One). The person called must do the same - call their name in two beats, then call another (i.e. Number One ... Number Three!). Play proceeds until someone messes up.

Then that person moves to the end, and everyone behind him/her moves up a seat. They must remember their name has changed! If Number Five messed up while playing with 10 people, Number Five would take the last seat and become Number Nine. Number Six moves into Number Five's chair and becomes the new Number Five, and so on.

The goal is to unseat Big Bopper (but play won't stop there!).
