The Mosquito Deleto™ Inhibitor itself is small - we're talking a 5" x 5 " x 5" package. It's light, and will easily fit into a backpack, suitcase, or duffel. How it works The Mosquito Deleto™ Inhibitor is powered by 2 "AA" batteries (which are not included). A small, refillable cartridge containing the chemical solution and a sponge is inserted into the bottom of the unit. When switched on, a small fan disperses the stuff into the air, to "block mosquitoes sensors and keep them from finding you." Does it work? Yes. I went with a bunch of Boy Scouts on a week long camp. One adult leader had a mosquito net - the other did not. I unpacked the unit, put the batteries in, and turned it on. I heard no sound. So I fiddled with the batteries, and finally ended up sticking my finger up into the fan assembly and discovered that it had been working the whole time! Whisper quiet - the fan won't cool you off or move a lot of air, but it gets the chemicals into the air, which is what it's supposed to do. The next step was to get the cartridge in place. There's a warning about spilling, and guess what? I did. The cartridge is basically a plastic cup with the liquid in the bottom covered by a sponge. Don't tip this, and be very careful! Now we were up and running ... Does it work well? We noticed a slight odor, but actually more pleasant than bug spray. The leader without the netting got no mosquito bites - the leader in the tent got one during the night (the leader in the tent actually got several more during the day, but was away from the unit, so that shouldn't count). There were fewer mosquitos in the tent, and they didn't land on us. I'm not sure that's as scientific a test as it could be, but both leaders decided to use this in the future. It's very quiet (as in, you won't hear it at all), and can pack anywhere (as long as you take care not to spill the cartridge - they come sealed). Our unit was on the entire week, and we still had battery power and the chemical stuff to spare.
